Wisline Platel came to the U.S. from Haiti through a humanitarian parole program in 2024. The Department of Homeland Security terminated the program in 2025, leaving thousands of people like Platel without temporary legal parole and work authorizations. Platel was arrested by ICE at a gas station early one morning in August.
