Officers on Monday arrested a Rockville man in connection with a fatal stabbing of 25-year-old man in Wheaton.

The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, working with Montgomery County Police detectives, arrested Elder Blanco-Zapata of Rockville after he left his home. Court records list Blanco-Zapata’s age as 41, but police said he is 31.

He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of David Estrada Fuentes of Wheaton.

Earlier Monday morning, first responders found Estrada Fuentes with stab wounds behind an H-Mart in the 12000 block of Georgia Avenue, police said.

Estrada Fuentes was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and died.

Estrada Fuentes and Blanco-Zapata knew each other and argued before the stabbing, police said.

Blanco-Zapata is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is awaiting a bond hearing, police said.
