Prince George’s County residents will have to wait another week to get a Bo-Berry Biscuit and Bo-Tato Rounds.

Bojangles, a North Carolina-born fast-food chain that specializes in fried chicken and biscuits, was scheduled to open in Upper Marlboro on Monday.

But in a video posted to the store’s Facebook page last week, Jay Johnson, one of the owners of the new location, announced that construction on a pipe that runs underneath the planned drive-thru will delay the opening until Nov. 9.

Bojangles has been an object of fascination for locals monitoring the chain’s return to the county.

“I had to drive all the way to Portsmouth for some bo rounds last weekend yall better stop playing with us,” wrote one Facebook commenter, who included crying laughing emoji. “See ya on the 9th.”

Prince George’s County had five Bojangles locations in Upper Marlboro, Oxon Hill, New Carrollton, Hillcrest Heights and Largo until late 2023. The outposts suddenly shuttered, and former employees told WUSA9 in March 2024 that the franchise owners mismanaged money and owed workers thousands in back pay.

The Upper Marlboro location is under new ownership, according to a March 2025 Facebook post. Another post on Monday morning said the store was still training its employees this week.
