Former NFL quarterback, activist and author Colin Kaepernick will be at MahoganyBooks in Glenarden tomorrow for a book signing event.
Kaepernick gained notoriety in 2016 when he began kneeling on the sidelines during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality. He never played in the NFL after that season. His new memoir, “The Perilous Fight,” explores his personal journey and the experiences that shaped his activism.
This isn’t Kaepernick’s first visit to the county. In December he visited Largo High School for a demonstration of Lumi Story, an AI-powered storytelling platform backed by his company that aims to support student literacy. The visit followed an August appearance at a reception in Ocean City, where county officials teased a potential partnership with Kaepernick and his AI company.
The ticketed event at MahoganyBooks, which is co-hosted by County Executive Aisha Braveboy, is scheduled for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Ticket purchase includes attendance and an autographed book.
