A man died after being struck by a 2014 Honda CR-V on Friday night between Belair Road and Prague Avenue in what Baltimore County Police are investigating as a hit-and-run.

Landis Williams, 69, who Baltimore County Police spokesperson Trae Corbin said was homeless, was transported to a nearby hospital after the silver car struck him around 8:20 p.m. Friday. Williams died at the hospital on Friday, police said.

Officials said the driver of the Honda did not stop. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues, police said.

There have been at least eight pedestrian crash deaths in Baltimore County so far this year, state data shows.

In January, Todd Hines Jr., 19, was fatally struck by a 2006 Ford F-250 in Dundalk, among the earliest fatal pedestrian crashes this year. Baltimore County Police arrested and charged 40-year-old Angel Quizhpi Tenezaca for his death.

Maryland State Police launched an investigation into a 30-year-old Virginia man’s death that month, too. After a Toyota Camry and a Mitsubishi Outlander were involved in a crash and pulled over onto the left shoulder of Interstate 695, all passengers and drivers got out and stood on the highway. Ahmed Waqus Qayun Kahn, a passenger in the Camry, was struck and killed by a Chevy Equinox, and its driver fled the scene.

In February, four pedestrians — Christopher Teah, 20; Loretta Pretlow, 67; Jarret Ayers, 48; and Mark Horner, 78 — died after cars hit them in separate incidents in Baltimore County. Last month, Peter Ruy, 72, died after a car hit him in Parkville.

Baltimore County had the second-most crash fatalities in Maryland last year — more than 60. According to state data, there have been 13 crash fatalities in Baltimore County so far this year, second only to Montgomery County’s 14.
