A 59-year-old Baltimore man died after going overboard on a sailboat in Baltimore County on Wednesday night, officials said.

Maryland Natural Resources Police officers and Baltimore County Fire Department personnel responded to a water rescue near the mouth of Middle River around 7:30 p.m., NRP spokesperson Vincent Dortenzo said in a statement.

Rescuers performed CPR on the man, who had just been identified, aboard a responding fire vessel before he was transported to a hospital, Dortenzo said.

The man was taken to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, where he died, officials said.

There were seven other people on the sailboat, Dortenzo said. One person jumped in the water in an attempt to rescue the man, he said. Officials do not suspect foul play.

Last month, officials found a 57-year-old Essex man dead in Seneca Creek days after he fell from a boat.
