2 cyclists, including a 13-year-old, die after separate Baltimore County crashes

Baltimore County Police are investigating two recent fatal crashes involving cyclists, one of whom was a teenager.

Caden Morgan, 13, was riding a bike on Yataruba Drive toward Essex Road on Aug. 28 when he was struck by a 2017 Audi traveling northbound on Essex Road, Baltimore County Police said Wednesday. The collision occurred as the teen entered the intersection. He died Tuesday, police said.

In a separate incident, 68-year-old James Bandoch died after being struck by a dump truck around Northwind and Trailwood roads in Perry Hall on Tuesday, police said in a news release.

The truck was traveling westbound on Northwind Road around 8:35 a.m. and hit Bandoch while making a right turn. Police pronounced the man dead at the scene.

There have been at least 35 fatal crashes in Baltimore County this year, second in the state behind Prince George’s County, which has had 50, according to state data. Around a dozen fatal crashes in Baltimore County have involved pedestrians or cyclists, state data shows.

One of those crashes killed 16-year-old Alexander Norenberg, a Towson High School junior who was riding a bike along West Joppa Road when he was struck by a car.
