Clara Longo de Freitas is a breaking news reporter. She joined The Baltimore Banner in 2022, covering East Baltimore before joining the express desk. She’s covered the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, youth gun violence and immigrant issues. A graduate of the University of Maryland, she spent most of her college years looking into workers’ conditions amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Clara is also an illustrator and likes to paint in her free time. Originally from Brazil, she moved to the United States in 2016.

Second teen dies following weekend crash in Cockeysville
Andrew Sober, a 16-year-old student who loved playing the guitar and soccer, died of injuries sustained in a crash in Cockeysville that also killed a passenger and injured two other teenagers, family and community members said on social media.
On Sunday, the makeshift memorial at the site of a car crash at the intersection of Poplar Hill Road and Merrymans Mill Road in Cockeysville; car shrapnel and heavy tire marks are still visible near the tree. The crash, which happened on Friday night, left three minors injured and one adult dead.
