Storms bring threat of damaging winds, hail on Thursday

Baltimore region

• 🌧️ Hazardous Weather Outlook in parts of Baltimore City as well as Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard and Harford counties. Scattered severe thunderstorms, large hail and isolated flooding possible along the I-95 corridor through Central Maryland.
• Today: Isolated showers and thunderstorms replace sunny weather in the morning. Then, showers and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon, with some possibility of damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall. Highs in the mid-80s. Lows in the upper 60s.
• Friday: Partly sunny with highs in the mid-80s. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, with lows in the upper 60s.

• Today: Isolated showers and thunderstorms take over sunny weather in the morning. Highs in the upper 80s. Thunderstorms and scattered showers in the afternoon, with some possibility of damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall. Patchy fog after midnight. Lows in the upper 60s.
• Friday: Partly sunny with highs in the mid 80s. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, with lows in the upper 60s.

Sunny weekend ahead

Severe thunderstorms are possible today as a warm front from North Carolina collides with a cold front traveling from the Ohio Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Marylanders should expect cloudier and more humid days with the end of August, said Chris Strong, a meteorologist at the weather service’s Baltimore/Washington office. This weekend, however, is expected to be mostly sunny across Central Maryland, with highs in the 80s.
