The Orioles have passed the halfway point of the season. Since opening day March 26, the roster has seen changes due to injury. Of the 26 players who were on the initial roster, seven are currently on the injured list.
Adley Rutschman

Catcher Adley Rutschman is the team’s most recent addition to the injured list.
Rutschman was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list Saturday, retroactive to June 19, following the team’s game against the Seattle Mariners. Rutschman left in the ninth inning after Seattle shortstop Colt Emerson struck him on the left side of the head with a throw to first.
This is Rutschman’s second stint on the injured list this season. He was out from April 11-21 on the 10-day IL due to left ankle inflammation.
When he has been active, Rutschman has been a major contributor, ranking third on the team with 1.6 bWAR and posting a .254 batting average with 15 doubles, eight home runs, 40 RBIs and a .787 OPS.
Rutschman traveled with the team to its series against the Dodgers and Angels, and he is eligible to return against the Washington Nationals on Friday, but the team will be cautious about rushing him back following a head injury.
Before Friday’s game, manager Craig Albernaz said Rutschman participated in throwing and hitting workouts and continues to make progress.
Chris Bassitt

Right-hander Chris Bassitt is the fifth and most recent member of the starting rotation to hit the IL. On June 8, the team placed Bassitt on the 15-day IL with lower back discomfort.
The move came after Bassitt gave up three runs in three innings against the Boston Red Sox on June 3. After throwing just 20 pitches in the first two innings, Bassitt threw 36 in the third.
Bassitt signed a one-year, $18.5 million free-agent contract in the offseason after posting a 3.89 ERA across three seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays. In his first season with the Orioles, he has a 5.27 ERA through 12 outings, 10 of them starts.
He received a facet injection to the lower back June 12 and is starting his throwing progression. There is no set date for his return, and it is likely he will remain sidelined into July.
Dylan Beavers

Outfielder Dylan Beavers hit the 10-day IL on May 13, retroactive to May 11, with a right oblique strain after feeling discomfort while working in the batting cage ahead of a game against the New York Yankees.
At the time of his injury, Beavers was one of the hottest outfielders on the roster, batting .243 with nine extra-base hits and 12 RBIs over 33 games — 29 of which were starts.
The 24-year-old began his rehab assignment with Double-A Chesapeake on June 18. In three games with the Baysox, Beavers finished without recording a hit, although he walked four times.
On June 23, Beavers was moved to Triple-A Norfolk. He is expected to return to the Orioles by early July.
Cade Povich

Left-hander Cade Povich was placed on the 15-day IL on May 8 with left elbow inflammation.
In his last start on May 7 against the Marlins, Povich experienced tightness in the second inning, and he left the game after pitching just three innings. He gave up three hits and three runs, and he walked two batters. He received a cortisone injection on May 19 to combat the inflammation.
This year, Povich has pitched in four games, starting three. Despite a rough two-game stretch leading up to the injury, Povich started the season strong with a 2.19 ERA in two April appearances.
On June 21, Povich began his rehab assignment with Double-A Chesapeake, throwing 43 pitches across 3 1/3 innings. He allowed one hit and zero runs while recording three strikeouts. He is expected to return in July.
Ryan Mountcastle
First baseman/designated hitter Ryan Mountcastle was placed on the 60-day IL on April 13 after he exited the team’s April 11 game against the San Francisco Giants after stumbling and sliding awkwardly into second. Imaging revealed he broke the fourth metatarsal bone in his left foot.
This season, Mountcastle has played just eight games with a total of 15 plate appearances, recording a .286 batting average with one RBI.
He is rehabbing at the team’s minor league complex in Sarasota, Florida, and was cleared to start running June 13. He is expected to return this season, although the timeline is unclear.
Yaramil Hiraldo

On April 5, the Orioles placed right-handed reliever Yaramil Hiraldo on the 15-day IL, retroactive to April 2, with right shoulder inflammation. A little over a week later, the team transferred him to the 60-day IL.
He has pitched in just three games.
There is no timeline on Hiraldo’s return, but for the first time since his injury, he threw live bullpen sessions this week.
Zach Eflin

Right-handed pitcher Zach Eflin was the first victim of the injury bug that has plagued the Orioles.
His season ended in his debut March 31 when he left the mound after just 3 2/3 innings and 73 total pitches with right elbow discomfort. Eflin was added to the 60-day IL on April 1 and underwent Tommy John surgery April 8.
This marks the first time in his 11-year career that Eflin has sustained an elbow injury. His 2025 season with the Orioles was also underscored by injuries. He was placed on the injured list three times and underwent back surgery in August.
Through the injury-plagued 2025 campaign, Eflin posted a 5.93 ERA over 14 starts.
The recovery from Tommy John places Eflin’s return in the middle of 2027.
Other notable players on the injured list
Dean Kremer

Right-handed pitcher Dean Kremer was technically not on the opening day roster. In a surprising move, he was optioned to the minors to start the season, although his time there was brief before he was called up following Eflin’s season-ending injury.
Kremer has started just two games, posting a 4.09 ERA before he became the second Orioles starting pitcher to hit the IL. After sustaining a right quad strain following his start against the Cleveland Guardians on April 18, Kremer was placed on the 15-day IL on April 23, retroactive to April 20.
On May 29, the Orioles transferred him to the 60-day IL.
The 30-year-old began his rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on June 21. In his first game back, Kremer threw 66 pitches across 3 2/3 innings, allowing two hits, two walks and one run. He is projected to return to the starting rotation in the first week of July.
Jordan Westburg
Infielder Jordan Westburg was projected to be the starting third baseman going into opening day. However, following a spring training workout, imaging revealed Westburg had partially torn his right UCL. He was placed on the 60-day IL on March 25, retroactive to March 22.
Westburg and the team opted for a nonsurgical approach using a platelet-rich-plasma injection but, after sustaining recurring discomfort, Westburg underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery May 13.
He is expected to return in 2027 and recently traveled to be with the team when the Orioles played the Angels. On June 25, Westburg began a running progression.
Félix Bautista
After posting All-Star numbers in 2023 with 33 saves and a 1.48 ERA across 56 games, Félix Bautista has been unable to escape injuries.
The closer racked up 110 strikeouts before sustaining a partial UCL tear in August 2023. He missed the 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
He returned in 2025 but, after pitching a long outing against the Tampa Bay Rays on July 20, he experienced right shoulder discomfort during a series in Cleveland. A month later, Bautista underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum.
Bautista was placed on the 60-day IL on Feb. 20.
The reliever threw for the first time March 3 before progressing to his first bullpen session June 23. However, Bautista’s recovery journey is just beginning and he likely won’t return until 2027.
