Vivian Yao is a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in bioengineering who is originally from Howard County. While at Penn, she served as the sports editor for The Daily Pennsylvanian. In that role, she published over 100 articles, including an investigative piece alleging mistreatment and sexual harassment by the Penn women’s track and field coaching staff. This piece was given the Drake Group Education Fund Student Journalism Prize for Investigative Reporting in Intercollegiate Athletics. Outside of writing, Vivian loves going on hikes, signing up for half marathons (even though she despises running) and trying new things. She will work on The Banner sports desk.
