Man dies in hit-and-run in city’s Brooklyn neighborhood, police say

A 46-year-old died after a car struck him in Baltimore’s Brooklyn neighborhood early Wednesday, Baltimore Police said.

Police were called to the 400 block of East Patapsco Avenue just before 6 a.m. The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said in a news release.

The vehicle that struck the man did not stay on the scene, police said. Police officials did not respond to a request for further details about the vehicle.

This is at least the fourth fatal pedestrian crash in Baltimore this year. In June, two people, including a toddler, died less than 24 hours apart after being hit by cars.

Around 1 p.m. on June 20, a 3-year-old girl was hit by a 14-year-old boy driving a stolen car. The girl died from injuries she sustained in the crash, which happened in the 1800 block of West Pratt Street.

Around 3:30 a.m. on June 21, a man riding a moped was struck by a 2014 Nissan Altima and died at the hospital. In March, a 28-year-old man was struck by a box truck in East Baltimore and died.

There have been at least 14 crash fatalities in Baltimore so far this year, according to state data.
