Anne Arundel officials are investigating a shooting in Severn involving police officers and a woman accused of a carjacking late Thursday evening.
Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to the intersection of North Crain Highway and 11th Avenue in Glen Burnie around 9:10 p.m. for a collision, according to a news release. When they arrived at the scene, they learned a woman had crashed her car into another vehicle. Police said the woman then “forcibly took” the car of a family member who drove to the scene to help her after the crash.
The officers found the woman inside the car in the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive in Severn, about 9 miles from the crash. The woman then drove toward officers, police said, striking one police officer, two patrol vehicles and another car. Officers shot at the woman and struck her as she drove toward them, police said.
Police did not say how many officers fired weapons.
More officers responded to the scene as the woman drove onto Reece Road. The woman then crashed into another car near Telegraph Road, police said, and left her vehicle.
Detectives apprehended her as she tried getting into another car, police said. The woman was transported to a nearby trauma center with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. An officer was also transported to an area hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.

The investigation is ongoing, and officers involved will be placed on administrative leave, authorities said.
Police have not released the woman’s name but said charges are pending.
The area surrounding Pioneer Drive is largely residential, following Severn Run and crossing through townhomes and playgrounds.
