One man was killed and three others were wounded in two separate shootings overnight in Baltimore as the weekend kicked off, police said.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 300 block of South Central Avenue in the Jonestown neighborhood around 11:27 p.m. on Friday, according to a news advisory from the Baltimore Police Department.

They found a 19-year-old suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, the advisory said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Then, just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, police responded to more gunfire in the 1000 block of South Hanover Street in the Sharp-Leadenhall neighborhood, police said.

Three men — a 40-year-old, a 35-year-old and a 41-year-old — were suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three were taken to a hospital, and the 41-year-old man died from his injuries, according to the police advisory. The other two had non-life-threatening wounds.

Police are investigating both shootings.

Baltimore has had about 124 non-fatal shootings this year, according to data shared by the Baltimore Police Department on Friday morning. This was the same amount of non-fatal shootings around the same time last year.

As of Friday morning, homicides are down so far this year at 40 compared to 54 last year.
