After thunderstorms ripped through much of Maryland this week, the skies should finally clear up through Labor Day weekend.

Saturday will be the last unsettled day of the holiday weekend, with spotty showers and thunderstorms possible as a front slowly pushes south through the area, according to the Baltimore/Washington office for the National Weather Service. The chance of storms is greatest this afternoon, but the severe weather threat is low.

Sunday and Monday should be clear as “temperatures should start to drop pretty quickly,” said Samantha Timmers, a meteorologist with the weather service.

Across Maryland, temperatures will remain in the low 80s through the holiday weekend and the humidity should also go down, said Timmers.

Humidity and temperatures begin to rise again Tuesday, with another chance for showers or thunderstorms as a cold front moves in Wednesday or Thursday.

If you’re heading to the beach for one last splash this summer, keep an eye out for some showers on Sunday morning until 2 p.m. Otherwise, you can expect a sunny, though cool, trip to Ocean City.
