Authorities say what began with a 15-year-old girl seeking a ride to a soul food restaurant in Baltimore last week ended in a dangerous fight for her life after she was allegedly abducted and stabbed multiple times.

Police arrested 23-year-old Abubakarr Barrie on Saturday and charged him with first-degree attempted murder, assault, kidnapping and other crimes in connection with the incident.

Barrie is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore Central Booking & Intake Center. Online court records list him as being represented by the public defender’s office, which didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The girl, who was not identifed by authorities, was at her sister’s home in Druid Heights on Thursday when she tried to catch a ride to the PlattaKing restaurant in Waltherson, according to charging documents.

A man, later identified by police as Barrie, pulled up beside her in a white Hyundai and asked if she needed a ride, she told police. She called him a “hack,” a term for an unlicensed cab driver, got into the car and put her seatbelt on, records said.

The girl told police she confronted the driver after noticing he was driving in the opposite direction of the restaurant, and he immediately became violent, restraining her with an arm so she could not move.

After arriving at a home on Garrison Boulevard, Barrie grabbed her by the arms and forced her out of the car to the rear of the house, where he pushed her down a stairway and into a small room. Inside, Barrie allegedly began ripping the girl’s clothes and stabbing her, documents said.

The girl scratched and clawed at Barrie’s body as she was stabbed five times, according to documents. Amid the struggle, she found a fire extinguisher and began hitting him with it until she could escape, she told police.

She ran from house to house, banging on doors, until an unidentified person let her call 911 and her mother, documents said.

Responding officers arrived to find the girl covered in blood, suffering from a collapsed lung, according to charging documents.

At the hospital, the girl provided officers with her attacker’s Cash App information and a description of his car, details that ultimately led police to Barrie, according to the charging documents. The girl also notified officers that the suspect still had her iPhone, which police said they tracked to the Garrison Boulevard residence.

Barrie has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Nov. 25
