Baltimore is a hub for immense creative talent. Artists and craftspeople make their work all year around, but the holiday season is when many are able to sustain their business for the next year.
Closed since last year, Woodberry Kitchen — Spike Gjerde’s 120-seat restaurant near Hampden — is relaunching as the comparatively tiny Woodberry Tavern, a 30-seat eatery.
I have never been to Anchorage, where the occasionally uneven but increasingly excellent “Alaska Daily” is set, more than 71 hours and 4,267 miles from Baltimore. Still, I felt a rush of uncomfortable recognition, as a journalist, a Baltimorean and as a Black woman when watching it.
