Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman was arrested in June for allegedly smashing the windshield of a car while his 3-month-old child and the mother of his child were inside, according to Georgia court records.

The alleged victim told police the incident happened around 6 a.m. on June 3 in Walton County, Georgia. Police said Bateman, a Georgia native, used an object to break the windshield of the victim’s car, as well as the driver’s-side window.

Police said the glass shattering caused multiple small lacerations to the victim’s face and left glass in the hair of their daughter, who was sitting in a back seat of the car. Police said multiple contusions were observed on the victim’s face as well, which the victim said were caused during an initial dispute at their shared residence.

Police said there was evidence that Bateman also used a screwdrier to attempt to puncture a tire on the car.

According to court records, Bateman faces charges of family violence battery — a misdemeanor for first-time convictions — as well as reckless conduct, another misdemeanor. Under state law, Bateman could face more than a year in prison if convicted of criminal damage to property in the first degree.

In July, a court removed a no-contact order against Bateman, upon the requests of Bateman and the alleged victim, modifying the conditions from “no contact” to “no violent contact” once Bateman completes a family violence intervention program.

“We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him,” a Ravens spokesman said. “We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment.”

An NFL spokesman said the Ravens have been in contact with the league regarding the matter, which is under review.

Bateman’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A 2021 first-round pick, Bateman has been searching for consistency at the NFL level. He had a promising rookie season before injuries hampered him over the next two seasons. In 2024, Bateman had a career-best 756 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

The Ravens signed Bateman to a three-year contract extension in the lead-up to the 2025 season. However, Bateman’s production dipped to career lows as he struggled with injuries and inconsistency. Heading into this season, Bateman has expressed excitement about his new role in offensive coordinator Declan Doyle’s offense.
