Ravens center Danny Pinter, the front-runner to replace Tyler Linderbaum at the offensive line’s most unsettled spot, was carted off the field Wednesday with an injury about 80 minutes into the team’s joint practice against the Minnesota Vikings.

The nature of Pinter’s injury was unclear, as he had yet to undergo testing. Teammates huddled around him as he was loaded onto the cart in Eagan, Minnesota.

“We’ll see how that shakes out,” coach Jesse Minter said.

Pinter had taken most of the first-team snaps at center during offseason workouts and training camp, and he started Saturday’s preseason-opening win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

“He takes control of his assignments, and he is just headfirst in what he has to do,” backup quarterback Tyler Huntley said after the game.

The Ravens entered their first of two joint practices having avoided significant injuries. Wide receiver Zay Flowers and cornerbacks Nate Wiggins returned to practice not long after scary-looking falls earlier in camp.

Pinter, 30, started 10 games for the Indianapolis Colts from 2020 to 2025, including three starts over the past two seasons. He signed a one-year, $2.8 million contract with the Ravens in late March, the team’s first move to address the position after losing All-Pro Tyler Linderbaum in free agency.

Jovaughn Gwyn and Ethan Pocic are also in contention for the starting job. Gwyn got 51 snaps against Philadelphia and “played really well,” Minter said Tuesday. Pocic, who signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal in July on the eve of training camp, is working his way back from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in December. He played 14 snaps, all in the fourth quarter.

The Ravens will play the Vikings on Saturday before wrapping up their preseason schedule with another joint practice and an Aug. 28 game against the Washington Commanders. Their 53-man roster will be finalized on Aug. 30.

“I really think that [center competition] will shake itself out over the next 10 days to two weeks with all those guys getting a really good opportunity to play against really good players both in practice and in the games,” Minter said Tuesday. “So I look forward to that.”
