Baltimore boxing champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis has countersued his ex-girlfriend for more than $20 million, claiming she provoked an encounter in 2025 at a strip club in Miami where she worked as a VIP cocktail waitress in a scheme to frame and extort him.

In the countersuit filed on March 23, Davis alleges that Courtney Rossel initiated the dispute between them on Oct. 27, 2025, at Tootsie’s Cabaret. She knew he had an upcoming boxing match with YouTuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul that Netflix had been set to stream, through which he was expected to make more than $20 million, the lawsuit alleges.

Organizers later canceled the bout.

Davis asserts that Rossel, through her counsel, contacted his manager, Ravone Littlejohn, and demanded $1.1 million or she would “pursue criminal charges through law enforcement and initial civil proceedings.”

But Davis argues that Rossel had already filed a police report. He also contends that she lied when she reported to law enforcement that she blocked all forms of communication with him, because the two spent the night together after her shift.

Rossel “knowingly made and publicized misleading accusations of domestic violence” against Davis, the lawsuit alleges, which she knew would be “disseminated to promoters, sanctioning organizations, sponsors, and members of the professional boxing community.”

Three days after the incident, Rossel, 32, filed a lawsuit against Davis that contains counts such as aggravated battery, false imprisonment and kidnapping. She detailed several other instances during their relationship when she alleges he assaulted, choked and threatened to kill her.

In an email, Richard Wolfe, Rossel’s lead attorney, called the countersuit “nonsense” and added that he will be filing a motion to dismiss.

Meanwhile, Wolfe is also asking a judge to allow him to amend the lawsuit to seek punitive damages, arguing that Davis has a “propensity for engaging in improper and willful acts of violence.” A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

Davis’ attorney, Richard Bales Jr., could not immediately be reached on Monday for comment.

More than two months after the encounter, law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for Davis.

The Miami Gardens Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service took him into custody after a two-week search.

Davis, 31, now of Parkland, Florida, is awaiting trial in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court on charges of attempted kidnapping and battery. He’s free on bond, and it’s unclear when he’s set to return to court.

Police allege that Davis grabbed Rossel by the hair and throat at the strip club and then forcibly escorted her down the stairs toward a parking garage. Detectives reported that they watched surveillance video that corroborated her account.
