Fort Washington Park remains closed after more explosive devices found
Fort Washington Park remained closed Monday as Prince George’s County and federal officials investigated explosive devices found in the wooded areas of the historic site.
Yesterday, technicians with the PGFD Bomb Squad responded to Ft. Washington Park after several explosive devices were located. US Park Police evacuated then closed the park. 5 devices were rendered safe before operations were suspended after sunset. This morning, additional explosive devices were located. The Bomb Squad is on scene working to render the devices safe. A joint investigation with members of the PGFD Fire Marshal’s Office along with the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the ATF, the FBI, the and the US Park Police is underway and ongoing.
