Two people suspected of shoplifting in Lutherville-Timonium and fleeing by car crashed into another vehicle, then ran away before officers took them into custody, police said.

Officers responded to West Ridgely Road around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, but they did not pursue the vehicle the suspects used to get away, said Detective Anthony Shelton, a spokesperson for the Baltimore County Police Department.

The department’s aviation unit followed the vehicle and told responding officers the driver ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle, Shelton said. No one was injured in the collision, he added. After driving a bit longer, the two suspects took off on foot.

The suspects, both adults, were eventually arrested. It was not immediately clear where the theft or the crash took place.
