MTA bus collides with stolen car in East Baltimore, multiple people injured, police say

A Maryland Transit Administration bus collided Thursday in East Baltimore with a car that police say was stolen, leaving several people injured, authorities said.

Chakia Fennoy, a spokesperson for the Baltimore Police Department, said the crash occurred in the 1500 block of North Wolfe Street, north of the Johns Hopkins Hospital campus. on Thursday. Police confirmed the red sedan was stolen. Fennoy said there were injuries but could not say how many people were injured.

Both East Oliver and North Wolfe streets were closed because of the crash, officials said.

Representatives for the Maryland Transit Administration did not respond to a request for comment.

The bus runs on CityLink Gold, a route that includes a nearly two-mile section southbound on Wolfe Street

The bus appears to have been struck on the right side with damage just behind the front right wheel, as well. Half of the front windshield is also missing

This is the latest crash involving an MTA bus this year. A collision involving an MTA bus in Pikesville in July left 30 people injured, including the driver.

In June, 12 people were injured after an MTA bus and a work van collided in Baltimore. A month before that, an MTA bus and three other cars crashed into one another in Anne Arundel County, leaving a 33-year-old woman dead. And in March, eight people were hospitalized after an MTA bus and two other cars clashed in Mid-Town Belvedere.
