Maryland Transit Administration officials identified a 23-year-old man who was fatally struck by an MTA train last week.
Jaheim Deandre Jackson, of Baltimore, died last Tuesday after being struck by an MTA train at Shot Tower Station, MTA spokesperson Courtney Mims said in an email.
The Baltimore City Fire Department was called to the 700 block of East Baltimore Street around 2:15 p.m. to rescue Jackson, officials said. Jackson died after attempts by first responders to render aid.
Train service was suspended at the station for the day.
Last year, at least two people died in transit-involved crashes. Last March, a 36-year-old man died after being struck by an MTA bus while walking in the 100 block of West Fayette Street. Just over a month later, a 63-year-old man fell and was fatally struck by a Charm City Circulator bus in the 1000 block of Fleet Street.
MTA Police are investigating last week’s incident. They didn’t immediately respond to a request for additional comment.
