A man and a woman were killed, and three other people were injured in a shooting at a West Baltimore gas station Sunday night, according to police.
Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to the BP gas station in the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue, where they found four people suffering from gunshot wounds — a 34-year-old woman and three men, ages 20, 24 and 48. A fifth victim arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds, police said.
The four victims found at the gas station were all taken to an area hospital, where the woman and 20-year-old man died, police said. The other victims have non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley said investigators are working to determine a motive. No one was in custody as of Sunday night.
“We don’t know any of that yet,” Worley said. “Hopefully, once we identify and speak to the victims that survived, they can give us some information. A lot of times, we have to rely on video evidence to put the pieces together.”
Worley said there appeared to be two or three shooters, and that high-powered rifles were used.
Over the past month, Baltimore police have responded to multiple mass shootings, including one that killed a 12-year-old at a West Baltimore park. Another shooting killed an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old in the Winchester neighborhood of West Baltimore.
“It is frustrating,” Worley said. “We are going to continue to push, try to solve this one and hold those accountable who took two lives.”
