A shooting at Leon Day Park in Baltimore sent police rushing into the park Saturday evening, with officials saying there may be “multiple victims” as children played nearby and families packed up for the night.
The shooting unfolded in the 1200 block of North Franklintown Road, Baltimore Police said.
The stadium lights were still on, and several people, including small children, were still in the Leon Day Park playground after the shooting.
Red and yellow tape warped much of the seating area just before the basketball court. Some people were packing up their cars with coolers and lawn chairs and long faces, while others threw a football and ran around the field.
One car blasted the likes of “Treat ‘Em Right” by Chubb Rock, “Saturday Love” by Cherrelle and Alexander O’Neal and “Cuff It” by Beyonce.
North Franklintown Road at North Ellamont was closed amid the police response. Police were directing vehicles out of the park.
Mayor Brandon Scott and Commissioner Richard Worley are at the scene.

The park is named for Leon Day, the southwest Baltimore resident who played for the Baltimore Black Sox, a Negro League team, according to Baltimore Heritage. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995, days before his death, according to Baltimore Heritage.
Officials did not immediately respond to a request seeking further details.
