A series of violent incidents that happened in Baltimore just hours apart from one another —including a shooting in East Baltimore that wounded two teenagers — have left four people dead and several more injured.

The deadliest incident of the night happened around 12:18 a.m. Thursday, when officers in the Southeast District were called to the 3500 block of East Lombard Street for a report of several people shot.

Officers found four people shot, including two minors. Medics at the scene pronounced two men dead, a 37-year-old and another who remains unidentified, police said.

The two minors who were shot — ages 14 and 15 — were taken to a hospital, with the older of the two in critical condition, police said. Officers later discovered a fifth victim in the Lombard Street shooting when they learned a 23-year-old man who was shot multiple times was taken to a hospital by a citizen.

Hours earlier, police said they received a call for a reported cutting in the 2400 block of Druid Hill Avenue around 5:24 p.m. Wednesday. Responding officers from the Western District found a 40-year-old woman had been stabbed, police said. They gave her CPR and rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she died from her injuries.

Not long thereafter, police said, the Western District received a ShotSpotter alert drawing them to the 2300 block of Avalon Avenue. After canvassing the area, officers discovered a 32-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

The recent spate of violence marks a particularly deadly night for the city that comes on the heels of several fatal shootings, during a period when Baltimore has been nationally recognized for a historic drop in homicides.

In the past month, Baltimoreans have seen a shooting at a homecoming game claim the life of a 12-year-old girl, another that left two teens dead in Winchester and a mass shooting in East Baltimore that injured multiple people, including a 3-year-old boy.
