Baltimore County Police have taken a suspect into custody in the shooting death of a 22-year-old Towson University student in the downtown area earlier this month, officials announced Monday night.
Police did not identify the suspect late Monday, but said “the active search related to this investigation has concluded.”
Anthony Shelton, a spokesperson for the Baltimore County Police Department, said the agency would not identify the suspect until they appeared before a court commissioner.
On Thursday, police said they were searching for Reginald T. Gray, 33, in the fatal shooting of Nasir Majied.
Authorities released photos of Gray and a 2007 Nissan Altima with tinted windows and a Virginia license plate they said he was last seen driving and said he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
Around 3:20 p.m. on June 5, Majied was driving northbound on York Road just before Towson Circle in a silver Kia Forte when the driver of a car going in the same direction opened fire on him, authorities said. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Majied was a student at Towson University, and the school’s Catholic community hosted a vigil for him following his death where friends described him as soft-spoken, gentle and easy-going.
County Executive Kathy Klausmeier said in a statement: “I applaud the round-the-clock work done by our @BaltCoPolice teams to bring this perpetrator to justice. Our thoughts continue to be with the family, friends, and loved ones of Nasir Majied as they grieve this loss.”
