A two-vehicle crash early Tuesday in Germantown killed a man and sent seven minors — ages 12 to 15 — to the hospital.

Two of the minors were in critical condition, authorities said.

The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was traveling in a different vehicle than the minors.

The incident occurred about 5:30 a.m. near Clopper Road and Great Seneca Highway, Peter Piringer, a spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said in social media posts.

Dozens of first responders arrived at the scene because the crash was a mass casualty incident, Piringer said.
