A former employee at a state-run juvenile detention center in Baltimore County is facing an additional 22 charges that allege he sexually abused another child.

Ronald Neverdon is now charged in Baltimore County Circuit Court with a total of 117 counts of child abuse, perverted practice and sex offenses relating to 11 children. He maintains his innocence.

Neverdon, 79, of Woodstock, held various positions at the Charles H. Hickey Jr. School until his retirement in 2013.

A grand jury on Feb. 25 returned the new indictment. Prosecutors now allege the sexual abuse took place between 1968 and 1991.

“He’d like his day in court,” said Tony Garcia, Neverdon’s attorney. “He’d like to face his accusers.”

In 2024, Baltimore County Police started investigating Neverdon after a group of men reported that he sexually abused them.

Sixty-nine men later filed a lawsuit in Baltimore Circuit Court against the state of Maryland and the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services that asserts Neverdon victimized them as the government looked the other way.

The Charles H. Hickey Jr. School was formerly called the Maryland Training School for Boys and can hold up to 72 boys who are waiting for placement or their day in court. The center primarily serves those from Carroll, Cecil, Harford, Howard and Baltimore counties.

Neverdon is scheduled to appear back in court on April 27 for a motion hearing.
