Three Baltimore Police officers were injured in a pursuit related to an alleged carjacking that ended in Sandtown-Winchester on Wednesday evening.

Dwight Williams, 27, was arrested after he struck multiple vehicles, police said. He’s been charged with multiple counts of assault, reckless driving and attempting to elude police, according to Chakia Fennoy, a spokesperson for the Baltimore Police Department.

Around 7:15 p.m., officers from the Regional Auto Theft Task Force attempted to approach a vehicle wanted in connection with a carjacking, according to a news release. The vehicle had been taken from the 3100 block of West North Avenue, Fennoy said.

Williams fled the scene at high speed, police said. Officers requested a police helicopter, known as Foxtrot, to help pursue the vehicle.

Williams struck multiple cars, including two police vehicles, then a building in the 1600 block of Booker Court. Police said Williams tried to escape the area on foot before officers arrested him around 7:59 p.m.

Williams was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Another man, as well as three officers, were also treated at area hospitals.

The Baltimore Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating.

The arrest comes about a week after Anne Arundel County Police officers shot at a woman accused of a carjacking in Severn. The woman drove toward police, striking one officer, two patrol vehicles and another car, police said. She was trying to get into another vehicle when officers apprehended her.
