Police arrested three teens following an armed robbery Thursday of a 15-year-old student at Northwest High School in Germantown, Montgomery County Police said Friday.

Police were dispatched about 12:35 p.m. to the campus on Richter Farm Road. An investigation determined that a 15-year-old student pointed a gun at another 15-year-old student inside a bathroom and demanded money. The victim gave the suspect cash and then reported the incident, police said.

Searching for the suspect, officers found a group of four males more than two miles from the high school, near Great Seneca Highway and Wisteria Drive, including one person who matched the description of the suspect.

When the 15-year-old suspect noticed the officers, he separated from the group and was taken into custody. He did not have a firearm when he was arrested, police said.

One of the other teens, 17, walked into a wooded area before returning to the group.

A police dog searched the wooded area and led officers to a loaded P80 handgun with an extended magazine. Detectives determined that it was the same weapon used during the robbery inside the school.

Detectives also determined that 18-year-old Tayvion Williams had been in possession of the gun. A fourth teen with the group was released without being charged, police said.

The 15-year-old suspect was charged as a juvenile with armed robbery, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony or violent crime, handgun on person, possession of a regulated firearm by a person under the age of 21 and possession of a firearm without a serial number.

The 17-year-old was charged as an adult with handgun on person, possession of a regulated firearm by a person under the age of 21 and possession of a firearm without a serial number.
