The Anne Arundel County Fire Department is responding to an apparent explosion at a home in the Annapolis area Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the 1100 block of Green Holly Drive, on the Broadneck Peninsula and close to Cape St. Claire. Fire officials warned people to avoid the areas. The Annapolis Fire Department has provided mutual aid, spokesperson Bud Zapata said in an email.

A media staging area will be at Broadneck Library.

Aerial footage from WJZ showed a huge tree looming over a giant pile of wood, clothes and chairs, all apparently from the home that was the scene of the explosion. This is at least the second explosion at an Annapolis-area home this summer.
