It was the Big Foe show Friday at the U.S. Open.
No. 11 seed and Maryland native Frances Tiafoe dominated Valentin Vacherot in three sets, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.
Celebrities including Ja Rule were in the stands of Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York cheering on the American tennis star.
Tiafoe will face No. 7 Daniil Medvedev, the 2021 champion, on Sunday in the fourth round.
The Hyattsville native has been a force at his home Grand Slam, reaching the U.S. Open semifinals in 2022 and 2024, with a quarterfinal appearance in 2023.
