President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks Tuesday at Tradepoint Atlantic, the 3,300-acre industrial site in southeast Baltimore County.

Trump will speak at 4 p.m. at an event where Anduril Industries, a defense technology firm, will announce “the next chapter of our work to rebuild American defense manufacturing,” according to a company press release sent Saturday morning.

The Wall Street Journal reported in August that Tradepoint was in talks with Anduril to host a production facility for the company’s drone boats — autonomous vessels that operate without a crew aboard.

Trump’s visit comes days after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the creation of the Autonomous Warfare Command to accelerate the development of weapons, including drones, that incorporate artificial intelligence.

Tradepoint Atlantic has redeveloped much of the former Bethlehem Steel site at Sparrows Point since taking it over in 2014, leasing warehouse space to companies including Under Armour and Amazon. A steel fabricator launched plans for a new facility there last year, and luxury car manufacturer McLaren will soon open a processing center.

Owned by billionaire businessman Jim Davis through Redwood Holdings, Tradepoint also handles cargo, including vehicles and bulk materials, and is constructing a container terminal that is expected to reshape the Port of Baltimore. That terminal is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2028.

Tradepoint was a key player following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, given that its location south of the span allowed it to continue to handle cargo after the collapse.

Anduril, named after a sword in “Lord of the Rings,” has rapidly grown since it was founded in 2017. Among its co-founders is Palmer Luckey, the now-34-year-old behind Oculus Rift, a groundbreaking virtual reality technology.

The company’s Tuesday event in Sparrows Point is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and include speeches from CEO Brian Schimpf “and multiple other VIPs,” according to a press release.

Trump visited southeast Baltimore County as a candidate in 2016, stopping at The Boulevard Diner in Dundalk to distribute campaign stickers and enjoy a crab cake. Once a Democratic stronghold, the area is now a reliable base of Trump support, mirroring a broader shift among working-class communities over the past decade.
