Thousands of people came together in Station North on Saturday to celebrate Baltimore’s 51st annual Pride parade, followed by the traditional block party, which was hosted in Druid Hill Park.
Floats and trucks moved down Charles Street as onlookers dressed in colorful clothes watched, cheered and danced. Participants and attendees waved LGBTQIA+ Pride flags under the sun and blue skies in the afternoon. Musical artists took the stage in Druid Hill Park afterward, transforming the park into a festival grounds for the weekend.
Baltimore’s Pride parade started in 1975 as a protest for LGBTQIA+ rights and has evolved into a week of celebration. The parade is the main event after a week of events hosted by the Pride Center of Maryland, Baltimore Safe Haven and other organizers and businesses.
There are more events in June for those who missed out, including Pride in the Park on Sunday from noon-9 p.m.
