Ulysses Muñoz is a photojournalist at The Banner, documenting daily life and capturing moments across the city and surrounding region.
A lifelong Marylander, he graduated from the University of Maryland’s journalism program. He spent the next seven years as a videographer and photographer, first at the Capital Gazette and then at The Baltimore Sun, where he was part of the Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom recognized in 2020 for its coverage of then-Mayor Catherine Pugh’s “Healthy Holly” book scandal. Ulysses joined The Banner’s visuals staff shortly before the publication’s launch.
Born and raised in Columbia, MD, he’s a graduate of Oakland Mills High School (’11) and the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism (’15). After leaving College Park, he spent a year and a half as a multimedia producer at The Capital in Annapolis before becoming a visual journalist at The Baltimore Sun.
He’s loved living in the city for the past five years, discovering new stories, flavors and activities around every corner; he can’t wait to see what else Baltimore has in store for him.
