One very lucky Maryland lottery player became a millionaire after matching five numbers in the Powerball drawing Saturday night, marking the second this week as the jackpot grows.
The winning Maryland ticket, which matched the first five Powerball numbers drawn (6, 17, 27, 48 and 50), was sold at a 7-Eleven located at 8905 Rhode Island Avenue in College Park. Saturday’s winner missed the jackpot because it did not match the Powerball number.
There were no winners reported for the Powerball jackpot pool of $719 million. Given there was no Powerball jackpot winner this week, the next drawing on Monday will be for $748 million, an estimated cash value of $325.1 million.
While Maryland gained one more lotto millionaire on Saturday, another ticket delivered a $50,000 prize to a person who matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number called at Max Liquors in Catonsville, according to Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission.
More than 30,000 winning tickets were sold in Maryland for Saturday’s drawing. Winners have 182 days from the day of the drawing to claim their rewards.
The state’s recent wins come off the back of a Powerball drawing on Wednesday that yielded another $1 million score. That ticket was sold at a Royal Farms on Annapolis Road in Odenton.
The $1 million winners in Maryland from Saturday night and Wednesday’s drawing have not yet claimed.
The last time a person hit the Powerball was on May 2. It was split between two tickets that were sold in Florida and Texas.
Since then, the commission said players in the state have accumulated nearly $6.3 million in prizes.
