Haven’t yet had a chance to try one of the four local eateries that are semifinalists for this year’s James Beard Awards? Soon you’ll have your shot to enjoy them all at once.

Marta Fine Food and Spirits, Café Dear Leon, Pink Flamingo and Southpaw will host a joint dinner on March 30 to raise money for the nonprofit organization No Kid Hungry, Marta announced Friday on Instagram.

The four Baltimore businesses were all chosen earlier this year as semifinalists for the Beards, considered the Oscars of the foodie and spirits world.

“To celebrate this momentous honor, we thought there was no better way than to come together as fellow James Beard Award Semifinalists for a one night only collaborative dinner!” the Instagram post reads. “This special evening will bring our kitchens and bars together to create an unforgettable menu while raising funds for a truly meaningful cause.”

The $250 four-course meal will be paired with cocktails. Menu details and ticketing information will come at a later date.

In a Jan. 21 announcement, the James Beard Foundation recognized Canton’s Café Dear Leon in the outstanding bakery category; owner Matthew Oetting of Marta in Upper Fells Point for best chef in the mid-Atlantic region; Doug Atwell of Fells Point’s Southpaw in the category for outstanding professional in cocktail service; and Pink Flamingo for best new bar.

Pink Flamingo co-owner Brendan Dorr told The Banner in January that the recognition for his Remington business, in a space once occupied by beloved former pub The Dizz, was unexpected but validating.

“I think it’s great that Baltimore is getting more recognition,” he told food reporter Christina Tkacik. “We always say, we shoot well above our weight. The city is full of culinary gems.”

The James Beard Awards, which are rolled out in phases, will name the final nominees on March 31 — a day after the joint dinner. Winners will be announced at a Chicago ceremony on June 15.

Past local winners of the top prize include Spike Gjerde, who won best chef in the mid-Atlantic in 2015 for his Woodberry Kitchen, and Charleston, the Harbor East restaurant that took home last year’s award for outstanding wine program.
