Consumers are being urged to check their refrigerators after Maryland health officials expanded a recall of Clover Hill Dairy products to include all cheeses sold by the Mechanicsville company.
The warning comes less than two weeks after the dairy operation issued a voluntary recall for several of its soft ricotta products over possible listeria contamination. State health officials announced on Sunday they are expanding the advisory to all the company’s cheeses.
Clover Hill, an Amish-owned farm store that sells an assortment of cheeses, agreed to voluntarily recall all its cheese products.
“Due to the public health risk, the Maryland Department of Health suspended the facility’s operating license on May 30, 2026, and is continuing a follow up evaluation in cooperation with the facility,” the health department wrote in a Sunday news release.
Clover Hill sells its products at farmers markets and through third party distributors in states like New York, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., according to Maryland’s health department.
“Products may be relabeled under a different brand name when distributed, including but not limited to KESSO, QUESOS LA RICURA, IZALCO, DE MI PUEBLO, RIO LINDO,” the news release stated.
Customers should search for the Clover Hill Dairy manufacturer number “24-128” on the package labels before eating it. Everyone is expected to avoid selling or eating Clover Hill’s cheese products, according to the health department.

What are the symptoms of listeria?
Listeria monocytogenes can easily spread to other foods and surfaces and can cause listeriosis if consumed. The disease can be serious and life-threatening for pregnant women, newborns, young children, older adults and people with weak immune systems, according to the news release.
Symptoms, the health department states, include one to three days of fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. More severe symptoms include headache, stiff neck, confusion and loss of balance.
“Although people can sometimes develop listeriosis up to 2 months after eating contaminated food, symptoms usually begin within several days,” the news release states. “People should immediately consult with a healthcare provider if they suspect they have developed symptoms that resemble a listeriosis infection.”
