A water main break at the intersection of South Caton and Benson avenues prompted a multi-agency response early Saturday morning, Baltimore officials said.

Baltimore Fire Department crews were called to the scene shortly before 7 a.m. and requested additional resources upon arrival due to the extent of the flooding.

Agencies including the Baltimore Police Department, Baltimore Gas and Electric, the Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Public Works responded to help contain the water and manage the situation.

Officials said crews remain on the scene in the Saint Agnes neighborhood, working to mitigate the break. A Royal Farms with a gas station is located at the intersection.

The water main break has also disrupted public transit, prompting several temporary bus detours, according to the Maryland Transit Administration.

LocalLink 29 service toward Brooklyn is detoured near Caton Avenue and Wilkens Avenue through 12:30 p.m., while service toward Mondawmin is being rerouted at Caton Avenue and Georgetown Road until 10 a.m. Sunday.
