An off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was pepper-sprayed by a motorist during a road rage incident on the Capital Beltway in Montgomery County on Saturday morning, the agency said.

Maryland State Police said one of the two men allegedly involved reported that the driver of a black BMW cut in front of him on the outer loop of Interstate 495 near Colesville Road and slammed on the brakes.

Both drivers pulled over and an altercation followed, according to state police.

Troopers from the Rockville barrack received a call about the incident shortly before 8:30 a.m., police said.
