An elderly couple from Odenton died days apart following a head-on collision about a mile from their home Monday, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Amelia Knuckey, 85, was the passenger in the Hyundai SUV that her husband, Thomas Knuckey, was driving. Police said Amelia Knuckey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thomas Knuckey, 85, died Thursday at a hospital after police initially reported that his injuries were not life-threatening.

The couple were driving north on Piney Orchard Parkway, near Ransom Drive, when police said a Lexus SUV “failed to negotiate a curve” and entered their travel lane, striking their car head on.

Police said officers responded around 3:25 p.m.

The driver of the Lexus, a 62-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with what police said were not life-threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the head-on collision.
