85-year-old woman killed in head-on crash in Odenton

An 85-year-old woman was killed in a Monday afternoon car crash in Odenton, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said.

A 62-year-old woman in a Lexus SUV southbound on Piney Orchard Parkway drove into the northbound travel lane on a curve near Ransom Drive around 3:45 p.m., police said.

She collided, head-on, with a Hyundai Tucson driven by an 85-year-old man, police said. The woman who died, identified as Amelia Knuckey, was a passenger in the Tucson.

Knuckey was pronounced dead on the scene, police said, and both drivers were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The department said police are investigating the crash.

Police have not released the identities of either driver.

There have been 11 fatal crashes in Anne Arundel County so far this year, according to state data. Thirty were recorded last year.
