Police arrest a Silver Spring father and daughter in stabbing incident

Police arrested a father and daughter for their roles in the stabbing of a relative earlier this month in Burtonsville.

Court documents obtained by The Banner said the victim, who was stabbed in the neck, identified his attackers as his brother and his niece.

William Andrew Dunn, 54, and Brittany Elaine Dunn, 24, are charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and related offenses.

Montgomery County Police say the two attacked the victim inside their home on the 3700 block of Stepping Stone Lane on June 4. The victim also lived in the home with the two suspects for three years, court records said.

William and Brittany Dunn were arrested in Rockville on Thursday and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. They have preliminary hearings set for July 10 at Montgomery County District Court in Rockville.

Officers found a bloody, black-handled knife on the dining room floor.

The victim told police that he was in the dining room when his brother approached him from behind and put him in a chokehold. He also saw his niece, who was wearing blue disposable gloves, holding a knife.

The man said he lost consciousness, awakened, removed the knife from his neck and called 911. The man’s brother and niece had fled, court records said.

An update on the man’s condition was not available.

Online records show that William Dunn is represented by a public defender. No one with the public defender’s office could be reached on Monday afternoon for comment. It was not clear if Dunn’s daughter had retained an attorney.
