A 23-year-old man died and another was seriously injured in a shooting outside of a house where about 100 people attended a weekend party, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, deputies responded to what they called “a chaotic scene” in the 2300 block of Willow Vale Drive in Fallston.

Joseph Evans, 34, of Owings Mills, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the garage and taken by helicopter to a trauma center in critical condition, authorities said. He remained in stable but critical condition Monday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

The 23-year-old man arrived at the hospital shortly afterward, having been transported by others at the party. The sheriff’s office said the man, Jordan Jennings of Windsor Mill, died of his injuries.

Authorities are investigating and still searching for the shooters.

“All we know is that the party ended right around 12 o’clock, there was armed security at the party, and that individuals were leaving the house, walking up the driveway, going into the street, and some type of altercation took place up on the street, which resulted in gunfire,” said Col. William Davis, with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

The party was organized by the homeowner’s adult son, authorities said. Police found that tickets for the party were sold online and that armed security personnel who’d been contracted for the event were present at the time of the shooting.

“If you have to hire armed security to be at your house for a party, it’s probably a good idea not to have that party,” Col. Davis said. “Because you’re actually saying, at that point in time, there’s a possibility that something bad could happen.”
