A 44-year-old Anne Arundel County man purportedly confessed to carrying out three separate nonfatal shootings in Prince George’s County after police located him using cellphone data and other records, court documents show.
Kendrick Lamont Savoy, of Lothian, faces up to 20 charges for the three shootings this week, including firearm use and possession, attempted murder and assault, according to online court records.
Around 10:35 p.m. Monday, Savoy allegedly fired upon a 28-year-old man as he rode on Maryland Route 5 at Allentown Road, hitting his car at least once, according to court documents. Nearly 15 minutes later, Savoy allegedly struck another 28-year-old man’s car as he drove northbound on the Maryland Route 5 ramp to the Outer Loop of Interstate 495 and Interstate 95 with his wife and their toddler, charging documents show.
Roughly two hours later, Savoy allegedly shot at a car going southbound on I-495/I-95 at Ardwick Ardmore Road, this time striking a 23-year-old driver in the leg, according to court documents. State police said the man drove himself to the hospital for treatment. He was the only person who was shot.
In charging documents, state police said they requested cellphone records for the areas where the shootings occurred, citing “an articulable concern for additional violence.” In the data they received, state police found a device belonging to Savoy in close proximity to two shootings, according to charging documents. Further investigation proved Savoy owned a 2017 maroon Dodge Challenger, police said in charging documents.
State police entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center and flagged it as one to “be on the lookout” for, per court documents. Prince George’s County Police conducted a traffic stop on the car in the 2300 block of Oxon Hill Drive in Temple Hills around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.
Both Savoy and his wife, who was riding with him, were detained, according to court documents. Police say in charging documents that Savoy admitted to carrying out the three separate shootings with his Sig Sauer 9mm pistol.
Prince George’s County Police found four guns, including the pistol, and other ammunition in Savoy’s car, according to court documents. State police said in charging documents that the pistol was stolen, and Savoy was not permitted to own weapons due to a previous conviction.
The Prince George’s County Public Defender’s Office is representing Savoy. The Banner reached out to the public defender’s office for comment.
Online court records show Savoy’s wife does not face any charges, but state police did not immediately respond to a question about her status. Officials have not shared if there was any connection or relationship between Savoy and the people he’s accused of shooting at.
