The Bureau of Prisons could not immediately be reached for comment. Its website lists his release date as Aug. 8.

He‘s widely known for his marriage to ex-wife Cynthia Bailey and has also appeared on “The Real Housewives of Potomac.”

Thomas pleaded guilty in 2024 in U.S. District Court in Charlotte, North Carolina, to one count of failure to pay over trust fund taxes and was later sentenced to 18 months in prison. U.S. District Judge Kenneth D. Bell Sr. also ordered him to spend two years on supervised release.

Between 2017 and 2023, Thomas failed to pay more than $2.5 million in employment taxes at several businesses, including Bar One Baltimore on Lancaster Street in Harbor East.

Meanwhile, Thomas withdrew $2.5 million, spent $370,000 on travel and real estate and spent more than $250,000 in purchases at stores including Neiman Marcus, Prada and Louis Vuitton, federal prosecutors reported.

Thomas was found not guilty in 2023 in Baltimore Circuit Court of second-degree assault after a woman alleged he drunkenly choked her at Bar One Baltimore.

The woman, Chanel Williams, called 911 and later pursued charges with a District Court commissioner, a judicial officer who is not required to have a law degree.

District Court commissioners can approve charges and issue arrest warrants without input from police or prosecutors.

Advocates maintain that the system provides a crucial option for some survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The process can also be easily abused.

T.I. was also arrested in 2024 on charges including first- and second-degree assault and use of a handgun during the commission of a crime of violence after a woman in Baltimore he’d never met alleged to a District Court commissioner that the rapper harassed, stalked and threatened to kill her.

Baltimore State’s Attorney Ivan Bates, president of the Maryland State’s Attorneys’ Association, is backing legislation that would change the system, which he’s referred to as “the T.I. bill.”

In a previous interview with The Banner, Thomas, without evidence, accused his employees of stealing, denigrated the city and maligned Black Baltimoreans.

Later, Bar One Baltimore closed.
