The Howard County Police Department says a Virginia woman is to blame for a shooting at a Columbia Shell gas station that left one employee injured over the weekend.

Officials announced Tuesday that Shantay Lashay O’Donnell, 46, is the woman seen in security footage wearing a black dress and cross-body bag, from which she pulled out a gun and fired at an employee.

Sherry Llewellyn, a spokesperson for Howard County Police, said O’Donnell is currently jailed in New York for reasons unrelated to the shooting but will be brought to Maryland to face charges for this incident.

The shooting happened just before 8 p.m. on Friday at the Shell station on the 7200 block of Cradlerock Way in the Owen Brown Village Center. The employee who was shot had to be taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries, police said.

Officials said the have not gotten any updates on the employee’s condition.
