A Rockville man was arrested for allegedly throwing a keg through a bakery’s window earlier this week, the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia said on Thursday.
Charles Joseph Ali, 28, is charged with destruction of property, a felony.
Though police did not identify the bakery, the owners of Georgetown Cupcake wrote in a Facebook post that the suspect who shattered their window is in custody.
The business had previously posted police statements about the vandalism at the store and a picture of a suspect carrying the keg.
“This week, our community showed up for us in the most extraordinary way,” the statement said. “Thank you to Detective Leiva and the DC Metropolitan Department for all of their work in this investigation.”
Georgetown Cupcake was featured on a TLC reality TV series, “DC Cupcakes,” which first aired in 2010 and shadowed the owners, sisters Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne. The popular business also has a store in Bethesda.

The incident, in the 3300 block of M Street Northwest, police said, happened at about 12 a.m. on Monday.
It was unclear on Friday morning if Ali had retained an attorney.
Police also said they are continuing to investigate vandalism that occurred in the predawn hours on April 24 at a business in the 1900 block of M Street Northwest. A suspect was captured by surveillance cameras in each of the alleged crimes. Police have not said whether they believe the same person is responsible for both, but referenced both incidents in the same statement.
